E24 on a Bosch dishwasher is a drainage fault: the machine could not pump the water out in time, so it stopped and flagged E24, usually leaving standing water in the tub. On a 500 or 800 Series it is one of the most common codes we see, and one of the most fixable.
The drain pump has a window to clear the tub at the end of a cycle. A clogged drain filter, a kinked hose, or a garbage-disposal air gap that was never knocked out will slow that flow and trip E24. The control would rather stop than run the next fill on top of dirty water.
We clean the fine drain filter, check the hose for kinks and high loops, and confirm the disposal connection is clear if the drain ties into one. If the path is open and the pump still will not clear the tub, the drain pump is replaced and we verify a full drain.
What You Can Safely Check
- Remove and rinse the drain filter in the base of the tub.
- Check the drain hose for a kink or a loop higher than the tub.
- If newly installed and tied to a disposal, confirm the knockout plug was removed.
- Bail standing water before inspecting.
