When to Treat It as an Emergency
- A Sub-Zero or other built-in warming up with food inside
- Water leaking toward floors, cabinetry, or electrical connections
- A gas smell from a range or cooktop, shut the supply first
- An ice maker or wine cabinet failing before an event
If you smell gas, shut off the supply, avoid switches and flames, and book a visit rather than running the appliance.
What to Do While You Wait
Move perishable food to a working fridge or a cooler, wipe up standing water, and note any code on the display. Keep the unit off if a leak is active and the cord is safe to reach.
