Where the Care Pays Off
For a Cove the care that pays off is keeping the fine filter clean and the rinse-aid reservoir full so the drying cycle works, plus salt in the softener on the WS model. A clean filter and good rinse aid head off both the wet-dishes and the slow-drain complaints we see most.
- Pull and rinse the fine filter regularly so food debris does not slow the drain or redeposit on dishes.
- Keep the rinse-aid reservoir topped up so the drying cycle sheds water instead of leaving it on the load.
- On the DW2450WS, keep the water-softener salt filled so hard water does not scale the interior.
- Wipe the perimeter door gasket so it seals and does not seep at the base.
- Check the spray arms for clogged jets that would leave dishes gritty.
When Maintenance Is Not Enough
Cleaning the filter and topping the rinse aid handle most of the avoidable issues, but the drain pump, the vent fan, and the door gasket still wear out. When dishes stay wet even with rinse aid, or water stands after a cycle, that is a fan or pump fault rather than a maintenance gap.
