E24 on a Gaggenau DF 480 dishwasher is a drainage fault: the machine could not empty within its expected window, so it stopped and flagged E24. Unlike the E15 leak trip, this one is about water not leaving the tub rather than water escaping it.
At the end of a wash the drain pump has a set time to clear the tub. If a blocked sieve, a clogged pump, or a kinked hose slows that flow, the control logs E24 rather than move on with dirty water in the machine. The obstruction is usually in the sieve stack or the check-valve at the pump.
We pull and clean the sieve stack and the check-valve, which is where food debris and glass fragments tend to collect, then confirm the drain hose has no kink or high loop. If the path is clear and the pump still stalls, the pump gets replaced, and we verify a clean drain.
What You Can Safely Check
- Remove and rinse the sieve stack in the base, the most common blockage point.
- Check the drain hose for a kink or a loop higher than the machine.
- Bail any standing water before inspecting.
- Note whether E24 appears every cycle or on heavy loads.
