F1-E1 on a Jenn-Air oven is a stuck-key fault: the control senses that a touchpad button is reading as pressed when it is not, so it flags F1-E1 and stops responding normally. On a Rise or Noir panel it often follows heat or moisture reaching the membrane.
The touch membrane sits over a matrix the control scans constantly. When one key shorts or sticks, the control reads a continuous press and cannot tell a real input from the fault, so it logs F1-E1. The problem is almost always the membrane or the control's touch circuit, not the oven's heating side.
We test the touchpad membrane and its ribbon connection to the board. A shorted membrane gets replaced; if the fault is in the board's touch circuit, the control panel assembly is the fix. We confirm every key reads correctly before closing the repair.
What You Can Safely Check
- Cut power for a minute to clear a transient stuck-key reading.
- Note whether one specific area of the panel is unresponsive or over-sensitive.
- Keep the panel dry and avoid steam near it.
- Have the model and serial ready for the correct membrane.
