E1 on a Liebherr is a fridge-compartment sensor fault: the NTC sensor that reads the fresh-food temperature has failed or lost its connection, so the control cannot regulate that compartment accurately and flags E1. On a Monolith or HC unit it often shows with the fridge side running warm or cold.
Each compartment has an NTC sensor whose resistance tells the control the temperature. When the fridge sensor reads open, shorted, or out of range, the control loses accurate feedback for that space and logs E1, distinct from E2, which is the freezer sensor. Without a good reading it cannot hold the set temperature.
We test the fridge NTC sensor and its wiring back to the control. A failed sensor is replaced; a broken connection is repaired. We then confirm the fresh-food compartment reads and holds its set temperature before we finish.
What You Can Safely Check
- Confirm the fridge door seals and airflow inside are not blocked.
- Note whether the fridge side is running warm, cold, or erratic.
- Keep the door closed as much as possible until it is diagnosed.
- Have the model and serial ready for the correct NTC sensor.
